For all hikes: Bring lunch, liquid and clothing appropriate for the season (summer fog, winter rain).
Some hikes may be canceled or changed due to the weather; please see statement in each hike description.
Call the hike leader if you are not sure.
For trail maintenance: Wear long pants, boots, and long-sleeved shirt and bring gloves as well as lunch and liquid.

Trail Maintenance - Skyline to the Sea Trail— Al Lisin, (408) 252-8106, leads a group that maintains the Skyline to the Sea Trail. This group now meets on the first Saturday of the month. The group meets at 9:00 am. Please call Al for meeting place (which changes).

Stanford University in Palo Alto Due to the 75% rain forecast and gusty winds, we have changed the hike to the Stanford campus. Even if it's raining a bit we can still hike but in a safer location. Meet at the parking lot on Lagunita Drive, next to Tresidder Union. Be ready to start at 9:30 am. Mark Bowden will co-lead with me. We'll take our lunch break at the Coho Coffee House in Tresidder. Rancho San Antonio Rancho San Antonio from Laura Ct. in Los Altos Hills, not the usual start from Cristo Rey Dr. in Cupertino. Rancho San Antonio starting in Los Altos Hills. From 280 go south on El Monte toward Foothill College. At the first signal turn left on Stonebrook Dr. Follow Stonebrook until you hit Kate Dr. Do a right turn and then a left on Laura Ct. Park at the end of Laura Ct. 10.5 miles with about 2000' of climbing We start with a steep climb up to the Chamise Trail. Then down to the Rogue Valley, followed by the Meadow, Quarry, Black Mountain, and Chamise trails back to our starting point. Lunch will be at Vista Point. Heavy rain cancels. Castle Rock State Park Trail Maintenance— The third Saturday of every month Kevin McDevitt leads trail work in the Castle Rock area. Meet at Saratoga Gap parking lot at 9:00. Windy Hill Open Space Preserve Moderate seven-mile loop, up Hamm's Gulch Trail, Lost and Anniversary Trails, and back down Spring Ridge. Lunch at the top. Hot cider at the end of the hike. IF the rain is really heavy, we'll hike a four-mile loop on Coal Mine Ridge (Town of Portola Valley trails) instead, starting from the same place and finishing before lunch. Carpool 9:10 am at 280/Page Mill Road Park and Ride; or meet at 9:30 am at the intersection of Alpine Road and Willowbrook Road in Portola Valley. Leader is Cathy. howardc414@gmail.com>

UCSC and Pogonip Moderate nine-mile loop, exploring the UCSC Farm and Arboretum, hiking across the UCSC campus and Natural Reserve and looping back through Pogonip. 8:30 carpool from Westside municipal parking lot, Los Gatos; or meet 9:30 at the UCSC parking lot nearest the Farm (Drive in to campus on Coolidge Drive and up the hill; take the first right after the entrance kiosk and then immediately turn left in to the parking lot). Uvas Canyon County Park Mandatory 8:45 am Carpool from Park and Ride at 85 and Cottle Road to enter the park together. The waterfalls are full and beautiful, so entrance to Uvas is limited on weekends from now through June. We have reservations for three vehicles, and must enter the park together. Meet at the 85 and Cottle Park and Ride at 8:45 am; if you go directly to the park you will not be allowed in without a reservation. The reservations hold regardless of the weather, so heavy rain may shorten or alter the hike but does not cancel. Moderate 8 mile hike except for a very steep one mile optional spur towards Knibbs Knob. I have put a rain order in to fill out the 5 beautiful waterfalls. Hike Leader: Mark Bowden (408) 735-8736.

San Francisco Stairway hike, Twin Peaks There will be a no host carpool at Page Mill at 8:30 and host carpool at Edgewood Park and ride at 8:40. Will meet at the corner of 16th and Ortega at 9:30. There are break ins in San Francisco, so don't leave anything of value in your car and nothing showing. We will walk the mosaic stairs, Grand View Park, Golden Gate Heights Park, Twin Peaks and Mt Sutro. I estimate this will be around a 8 mile hike with lots of stairs and elevation. Heavy rains cancels. Bring lunch and dress in layers. There will be a no host carpool at Page Mill at 8:30 and host carpool at Edgewood Park and ride at 8:40. Will meet at the corner of 16th and Ortega at 9:30. There are break ins in San Francisco, so don't leave anything of value in your car and nothing showing. Mount Tam Hike Start hike at 9am at Mount Tam's Pantoll Ranger Station, take Bootjack down to Muir Woods, and Ben Johnson up to Cardiac Hill where we will have lunch break. Then take Dipsea and Steep Ravine back to Pantoll. About 10-11 mile 2000' Moderately Strenuous Hike due to big steps down Dipsea and ladder at Steep Ravine. Heavy Rain Cancels. Russian Ridge OSP - hike, hike planning, potluck lunch Daylight Savings time starts at 2am today! Remember to set your clocks ahead one hou. Eat and drink, hike and plan future hikes, and enjoy the views on our annual potluck winery hike! This eight-mile hike is part loop, part out-and-back along the Ancient Oaks, Hawk Ridge, and Bay Area Ridge trails to Thomas Fogarty Winery. Anyone who is interested is invited to participate in a potluck lunch - just bring your choice of finger food or picnic food to share! If you'd like to do a wine tasting, or join in sharing a bottle of wine, bring some money for that. We will plan the winter hike schedule over lunch, so please bring your calendar and your ideas for April, May, or June hikes. Calero S.C. County Park Starting at Ranch San Vicente parking area. Hike Lisa Killough trail to Serpentine Loop, and back on Cottle trail. Distance about 10 miles, moderate to strenuous hike. Henry Coe State Park A special docent-led hike by Bob Kass and others at Henry Coe State Park. We will meet Bob at the Hunting Hollow gate, drive in a short distance, and then hike an approximate 10-mile loop. Mostly uphill for the first half, and mostly downhill on the way back after lunch. Poles will be helpful at a couple of wet spots. Please join other hikers at Cottle/85 at 8:00 for car pooling to Coe as the number of cars is limited (and cars must have good clearance).Bob reports that the "wildflowers are out and it's green and lush!" Portola State Park Route will be up Coyote Ridge trails to Tarwater trailhead, down Tarwater, across Baker Fire Rd, up Butano Ridge trail, down Portola trail, then down Service Rd to the start. 7 miles, 1500 feet elevation gain. Rain cancels. Carpool: 8:45 behind La Fondue, 14550 Big Basin Way, Saratoga or 8:45 behind Pioneer Hotel in Woodside. Directions to Portola Park: from Highway 35, turn west onto Alpine Road, go 3 miles, and turn onto Portola State Park Road. The road dead ends in the park.
