For all hikes: Bring lunch, liquid and clothing appropriate for the season (summer fog, winter rain).
Some hikes may be canceled or changed due to the weather; please see statement in each hike description.
Call the hike leader if you are not sure.
For trail maintenance: Wear long pants, boots, and long-sleeved shirt and bring gloves as well as lunch and liquid.

Hidden Villa We will take the Hostel Trail towards Black Mountain, and return via Ewing Hill trail and Creek Trail; then do one of the Bunny Loop trails. Most of the hike is shaded. Trail Maintenance - Skyline to the Sea Trail— Al Lisin, (408) 252-8106, leads a group that maintains the Skyline to the Sea Trail. This group now meets on the first Saturday of the month. The group meets at 9:00 am. Please call Al for meeting place (which changes).

October 8

Sunol Regional Wilderness The hike is approximately 9 miles, starting with Indian Joe trail, High Valley Rd, Eagle View, Rocks Rd. Cerro Este to Mc Corckle, Backpack Rd to Little Yosemite and return to Headquarters. Meet at Parkmoor/Meridian at 8:15 near Saver's or Park HQ at 9am Mary Ellen 408 885 0184 Please note starting time of 9:00!

Castle Rock State Park Trail Maintenance— The third Saturday of every month Kevin McDevitt leads trail work in the Castle Rock area. Meet at Saratoga Gap parking lot at 9:00. Call Kevin at (408) 733-3333. Bring boots and gloves, lunch and liquid. Tools are supplied but bring your own favorites if you prefer.

Sam McDonald County Park 9 miles, 1800 feet gain. Loop route will take us past the Sierra Club hiker's hut, with some distant forest views in the open areas. Half shaded. Montara Mountain/San Pedro Valley County Park Hike to the top of Montara Mountain, starting from San Pedro Valley Park using Montara Mountain and Brooks Creek Trails. Less than 8 miles, but a good climb (1700' gain) and great views. Meet at Page Mill Park and Ride at 8:45 or 9:30 at San Pedro Valley County Park, 600 Oddstad Boulevard, Pacifica. Rain cancels. Mt Umunhum hike NOTE end of day light saving time; we "Fall Back" one hour early on Nov 5. We must limit cars because parking will be limited- so meet at stated carpool location to consolidate and drive in fewest cars to Bald Mountain parking. About 9 miles and 1300'. San Francisco - Presidio 9 mile hike starting at Baker Beach, middle parking lot starting at 9:30 Non Host car pool at Page Mill Park and Ride at 8:30. Host Carpool at Edgewood Park and Ride at 8:40 We will hike thru the Presidio, Crissy Field and back on the Coastal Trail. Heavy rain cancels. Please bring layers, lunch and water. Planning a stop at Starbuck's around lunch if you wish to buy your lunch by the Letterman District. Russian Ridge and winery Eat, drink, hike, and plan future hikes on our annual potluck winery picnic! The 8-mile loop is part loop, part out-and-back along the Ancient Oaks, Hawk Ridge, and Bay Area Ridge trails to Thomas Fogarty winery. Anyone who is interested to bring finger food to share at our potluck picnic lunch. Also bring money if you would like to participate in wine tasting and/or purchasing a bottle of wine to share. Bring your calendar and ideas for winter hikes as we will plan hikes over lunch. Hidden Villa on Moody Road Black Mountain from Hidden Villa. This hike is 10.5 miles round-trip; medium difficulty and steep at the end. Plan on 5 hours at steady pace. Elevation gain— 2,280 ft. Hike to the highest peak in the northern Santa Cruz Mountains. It rewards you with 360° views. Take Creek Trail to the end; it becomes Ewing Hill Trail. Turn right at Black Mountain Trail and continue the steady uphill climb. Bring lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen and layers. Carpool 9:00 am from Page Mill ParknRide. Mount Tamalpais State Park We will start at the BootJack Parking Lot and hike down Matt Davis trail to Stinson Beach, have lunch and head back on Dipsea and Steep Levine trails. Moderate hike around 8 miles and 1800' elevation change. Rain Cancels. (parking can be difficult, so car pool, and try to get there by 9am or a little earlier - Boot Jack parking is just short distance from Pantoll lot) Car Pool at Page Mill Park and Ride at 7:30am, or Meet at Boot Jack (just before Pantoll) Parking Lot at 9am. Sierra Vista OSP Hike Sierra Vista trail to Lower Calaveras Fault trail to the Overlook for lunch. Return on Lower Calaveras Fault, Upper Calaveras Fault Trail and Sierra Vista. Moderate to strenuous hike. It is uphill to the Overlook, and then back downhill, about 10 miles. Heavy rain cancels. Please make your own car-pool.
