For all hikes: Bring lunch, liquid and clothing appropriate for the season (summer fog, winter rain). |
Some hikes may be canceled or changed due to the weather; please see statement in each hike description. Call the hike leader if you are not sure. |
For trail maintenance: Wear long pants, boots, and long-sleeved shirt and bring gloves as well as lunch and liquid. |

Trail Maintenance - Skyline to the Sea Trail— Al Lisin, (408) 252-8106, leads a group that maintains the Skyline to the Sea Trail. This group now meets on the first Saturday of the month. The group meets at 9:00 am. Please call Al for meeting place (which changes). |

Bear Creek Redwoods Preserve So many hikers were out of town for the first Bear Creekhike, that Cathy and Jim decided to try again! This will be a moderate hike of 7 to 8 miles, with elevation gain 1500', in this new open space preserve. Beautiful redwoods and a bit of local history!The trails are mostly shaded, and mostly fire roads. 8:40 carpool from Los Gatos North Side Municipal Lot, on the north side of Highway 9 between University and North Santa Cruz. 9:00 hike from Bear Creek parking lot. Coyote Ridge Trail We will hike Coyote Ridge trail, Gaviota trail and Mummy Mountain trail. It's about 9 miles, moderate hike. Heavy rain cancels, but not light rain. Sunol Regional ParkWe will hike approximately 9 miles from Sunol to Mission Peak and return. We will eat lunch at Mission Peak. Please note: In addition to the park entrance fee (per car), there is an additional $2 per person fee for the required permit and regional map for the Ohlone Wilderness Area. Upper Stevens Creek C. Park & Skyline Ridge Open SpaceStarting from Grizzly Flat left on to Canyon trail. Cross over Skyline Blvd. to Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve Chestnut trail back to the cars. Moderate hike about 10 miles. Heavy rain cancel. Montebello OSP, potluck and hike planning Eat, drink, hike, and plan future hikes on our annual potluck winery picnic! Beautiful views as we hike up Black Mountain and along the ridge on this moderate, ten-mile, out-and-back hike to Ridge Winery. Anyone who is interested is invited to participate in a potluck lunch; bring your choice of finger food to share. Also bring some money if you would like to participate in buying a bottle of wine to share. Bring your calendar and your ideas for winter hikes as we will sign up for hikes over lunch. Black Mountain from Hidden Villa This hike is 10.5 miles round-trip; medium difficulty and steep at the end. Plan on 5 hours at steady pace. Elevation gain— 2,280’ Hike to the highest peak in the northern Santa Cruz Mountains. Incredible 360° views. Take Creek Trail to the end; it becomes Ewing Hill Trail. Turn right at Black Mountain Trail and continue the steady uphill climb. Bring lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen, layers and rain gear just in case. Carpool 9:00 am from Page Mill Park and Ride. Hike starts at 9:30 am from the Hidden Villa Education Center parking lot. Note there is a parking fee at Hidden Villa (they teach environmental education so it's a VERY good cause). Stanford Campus Around a nine mile walk around the Stanford Campus including the Dish. We will have lunch at Tresidder Union; bring your own or buy there. No host carpool at Page Mill at 9:10. Meet in the parking lot next to Tresidder Union (use 459 Laqunita Dr the parking lot on GPS). Parking is free on weekends. Walk starts at 9:30. Heavy rain cancels. |
